Panic button (time-out)
The panic button is a function with which you immediately exclude yourself from betting for a short time, in order to take a break.
At a glance
What does the panic button do?
The panic button, often also called a time-out, blocks you from betting at the push of a button for a short period. This lets you take a break immediately when you notice that you need some distance. The time-out is shorter and simpler than a full self-exclusion.
The guide Applying for self-exclusion at the betting shop covers this in detail.
When does a time-out make sense?
A time-out helps if you want to keep playing impulsively, want to win back losses right now or should rethink your playing behaviour. It gives you time to clear your head before you place another bet.
What if the time-out isn't enough?
If a short break isn't enough, the next steps are a self-exclusion via OASIS and counselling. Both are free and confidential. You'll find support services on our Player Protection and Help page.
Also known as: time-out, pause function
