A Tipico betting shop is a walk-in venue. You place your sports bets in person there and follow selected matches on big screens. In legal terms it is a betting agency. You pick a sporting event, set your stake and hand in your slip at the counter or at a self-service terminal. Many shops pay out your winnings on the spot in cash.

You can only bet in a betting shop in Germany from age 18 (21 in Bremen), and only with licensed operators.
