The leagues and cups you will often see in the shop
In many Tipico betting shops, matches play on the screens while you are there. Which one a shop puts on depends on the location, the channels it has and the matchday. There is no single line-up that applies everywhere. Even so, the competitions below are the ones fans ask about most. Tipico is an official partner of the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, and a sports betting partner of the DFB-Pokal and the 3. Liga.
German football: Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga and DFB-Pokal
The Bundesliga is Germany's top division. Eighteen clubs play across thirty-four matchdays from August to May, usually spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Below it sit the 2. Bundesliga, also eighteen teams, and the 3. Liga with twenty. The DFB-Pokal is a knockout cup that runs all season and often throws together clubs from different divisions. These are the matches you will see most in German betting shops, simply because so many fans follow the home leagues.
European competitions: Champions League, Europa League and Conference League
Midweek, the European nights take over. The UEFA Champions League is the biggest club competition on the continent, alongside the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League. These games usually fall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Whether a given shop shows a particular tie comes down to the channels it has, so if you are not sure, just ask which matches are on that night.
The Turkish Süper Lig and other top leagues
The big leagues abroad pull in plenty of interest too. The Süper Lig is Turkey's top division, home to well-known clubs such as Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor. Add to that the English Premier League, Spain's LaLiga, Italy's Serie A and France's Ligue 1. Which of these a shop shows again depends on the location and the channel package it has.
Big tournaments: the World Cup and the European Championship
Interest really picks up during a World Cup or a European Championship. Both come round every four years, the World Cup run by FIFA and the Euros by UEFA. Around these tournaments many betting shops put the big matches on, but the same rule applies: each shop decides what goes on the screens based on the channels it has.
