Accumulator
An accumulator bundles several single bets on one slip. Every tip has to be right, and in return the odds multiply into a higher total, which raises the risk.
At a glance
How does an accumulator work?
With an accumulator, you put several tips together on one slip instead of playing each tip individually. The odds of the individual tips are multiplied by one another. This produces a considerably higher total than on a single bet.
The catch: all the tips have to be right. If just one tip is wrong, the whole accumulator is lost.
Worked example: accumulator
The total odds result from multiplying the individual odds, the possible payout from total odds times stake.
| Tip | Odds |
|---|---|
| Match 1 | 1.50 |
| Match 2 | 2.00 |
| Match 3 | 1.80 |
| Total odds | 5.40 |
payout = stake × total odds On a 10-euro stake, that would be 54 euros if you win, provided all three tips come in.
Accumulator or system bet?
Both bundle several tips, but handle wrong tips differently:
- Accumulator: All tips have to be right. One wrong tip means a total loss.
- System bet: Even with individual wrong tips, a proportional win is possible, but in return the stake is higher.
The accumulator offers the higher odds, the system bet the lower risk.
What are the pros and cons of an accumulator?
| Advantages | Disadvantages |
|---|---|
| High total odds | One wrong tip = everything lost |
| Small stake, big possible payout | Risk rises with every tip |
| Exciting across several matches | Harder to calculate |
What should you look out for with an accumulator?
With an accumulator, even a small stake produces a high possible payout. The more tips you include, however, the higher the probability that the bet bursts. Only stake amounts whose loss you can absorb, and play responsibly. Sports betting is only permitted from the age of 18 (21 in Bremen). Frequently asked questions about Accumulator
What is an accumulator?
An accumulator bundles several single bets on one slip. All the tips have to be right, and in return the individual odds are multiplied and produce a considerably higher total than on a single bet.
How are the odds of an accumulator calculated?
The total odds of an accumulator result from multiplying all the individual odds. With odds of 1.50, 2.00 and 1.80, the total odds are 5.40. Multiplied by the stake, that gives the possible payout.
What happens if one tip of the accumulator is wrong?
Then the entire accumulator is lost, even if all the other tips were right. It only counts if every single selection comes in. That is why the risk rises with every tip.
