Checking a betting slip: status in the shop and in the app
You can check in seconds whether your bet is open, won or lost. In your Tipico betting shop, have the barcode scanned at the counter or self-service terminal. When you're out and about, use the app. One thing stays important throughout: keep the original slip safe.
You can check your betting slip in the shop at the counter or self-service terminal by scanning the barcode, or online in the app using the betting slip number or barcode. The status shows open, won or lost. To collect a payout, you need the original slip.

Checking a betting slip in five steps
- Find the slip number and barcodeYour printed slip has a betting slip number and a barcode at the top or bottom. You need both to run the check.
- Scan it at the self-service terminalHold the barcode under the self-service terminal's scanner. The machine shows the current status of your bet right away.
- Show it at the counterAlternatively, show the slip to a member of staff. They scan it and tell you the result.
- Check it in the appWith an account, you can see the bets you've placed straight away in your betting history. You can enter a cash slip using the betting slip number or a barcode scan, as long as the app supports it.
- Read the status and collect your winIf it says won, you collect your win at the counter or terminal. Open means the event is still running, and lost means the bet is over.
Where do I find the betting slip number and the barcode?
Every printed betting slip carries a unique betting slip number and a barcode. Both identify your bet in the system. The number is usually a long string of digits on the slip, and the barcode is a black-and-white bar code below or above it. Using this identifier, you can check the status at any time, with no personal data needed.
Keep the slip flat and dry so the barcode stays readable. A creased or dirty code is harder for the scanner to pick up. For how to fill in a slip correctly in the first place, see the guide filling in and placing a betting slip.
How do I check the betting slip in the shop?
In the shop you have two options: the counter and the self-service terminal. At the counter, the staff handle the check. You show the slip, a staff member scans the barcode and tells you the status. At the self-service terminal, you scan it yourself: hold the barcode under the reader and the machine shows open, won or lost. Both options are free and take only seconds.
At the terminal you don't wait for the counter. For how a self-service terminal works in general, see the guide Self-service terminal in the betting shop.
At the counter
- Staff scan the slip
- Staff tell you the result
- Advice for follow-up questions
- Payout possible directly
At the self-service terminal
- You scan the barcode yourself
- Status straight on the display
- No waiting at the counter
- Payout depends on the machine
Both options show the same status and are free.
How do I check the betting slip digitally in the app?
With a betting account, you'll find your bets straight away in your digital betting history. There you see every bet you've placed, with stake, odds and current status, and you don't need a paper slip. If you bet in cash in the shop, some providers let you track a cash slip in the app using the betting slip number or a barcode scan. Whether that works depends on the app.
The customer card stores the bets you place in the shop in your customer card profile, which is kept separate from any online account. That way you keep an eye on stakes, limits and your history all in one place, which also makes it easier to stay on top of your own betting.
What does the status mean?
The status sums up the result of your bet in a single word. Three are common:
- Open: the event is still running or hasn't started. A payout is only possible after the match ends.
- Won: your tip has come in. You collect your win at the counter, at the terminal or through your account.
- Lost: the tip didn't come in and the bet is over.
With accumulators, the overall result is what counts: just one tip that doesn't come in makes the status lost. For how accumulators and system bets work, see Bet types at a glance.
What to do with a lost or damaged betting slip?
With cash bets, the original slip is usually your only proof. If you lose it, a payout usually isn't possible. If the barcode is damaged but the betting slip number is still readable, staff can often look up the status using the number instead. If in doubt, just ask in the shop what your options are.
If you want to play it safe, bet through an account or the customer card. Then your bet is stored digitally and a lost paper slip matters far less. For more on payouts, see the guide collecting winnings at the betting shop.
How long is a betting slip valid?
Winnings have to be redeemed within a set period. This period is in the terms of participation and can vary. Once it lapses, your claim to the win expires. So check your slip soon after the event.
The exact period is in the terms and conditions or posted in the shop. If in doubt, ask the staff.
The original slip is your proof
With cash bets, the rule is almost always the same: no original slip, no payout. Take a photo to be safe, but a scan usually won't stand in for the original at the counter.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check whether my betting slip has won?
Have the barcode scanned at the self-service terminal or at the counter in the shop. The system shows the status straight away: open, won or lost. If you have an account, you can also see the result in the digital betting history in the app.
Can I track a cash slip in the app?
Whether you can track a cash slip in the app depends on the app. Some let you check a cash slip handed in at the shop using the betting slip number or a barcode scan. Others only show bets placed through an account.
What happens if I lose my betting slip?
With cash bets, the original slip is usually your only proof. Without it, a payout normally isn't possible. If only the barcode is damaged, staff can often still look up the status using the betting slip number.
How long do I have to redeem a win?
The redemption period is set out in the terms of participation and can vary. Once it lapses, the claim expires. So check your slip promptly and don't leave winnings unclaimed for weeks.
Do I need personal data for the check?
No. The status check runs on the betting slip number and the barcode, not on your name. For a cash payout, though, you may need to prove your identity depending on the amount.
My Tipico betting slip has won: what now?
Take the slip to the till or scan it at a self-service terminal. The system checks the winnings, and then you get the money in cash. Before your first payout you show a valid official ID. If you bet with the customer card, the winnings are already on your card account.
